Serve the Community

Opportunities to Serve in the Community are Plentiful

At Wesley UMC there are many opportunities to get involved and serve in and around our local community.

Come join those who have shared their talents, abilities and time to bless others.

Backpack Buddies

This ministry serves almost 300 students in 3 school districts from Hopkins County. We serve by assembling backpacks each Wednesday during the school year.

Backpack Buddies

Ways that you can help right now: drivers to pick up food from the Food Bank, load and unload supplies, assemble the bags, and deliver to the school.

We also take the time to pray before each assembly for the recipients of the Backpack Buddies.

Contact Jim Skaggs if you are interested in volunteering.

Other Areas of Service

Pack the Bus

Wesley contributes monthly to CAN Help. A portion of our monthly mission funds are donated to them.

We participate in Pack the Bus with school supplies, box fans in the summer, coats and jackets in the fall, and money each month that is used to assist those in need.

We also organize food drives and donate the collected items to Community Chest.

Monthly Mission Emphasis

Each month we have a new list of items to bring for different organizations in our community. This year, we have collected personal hygiene products to be given to SAFE-T (Shelter Agencies for Families in East Texas), bags for children in the foster care system, school supplies for Travis School, and specific food items for Community Chest.

Our monthly mission emphasis is an easy way to participate in missions, even if you can’t go in person!

Contact Jim Skaggs if you are interested in volunteering.

Little Acorn School

Our church houses a four-star day care called Little Acorn Preschool (LAS). Quality care is provided by our highly qualified staff. Currently there are 50 children and 9 staff members.
